[RESOLU]Calvi for FS2004 elevation, low quality textures

Messagepar stepell » 13 déc. 2016, 22:14

Hello

I recently bought your scenery Calvi for FS2004, there are 2 issues I need to ask you about:

1.) elevation problem:
The whole Airport seems to have a wrong elevation. the aircraft is sunken in on the Apron, the Taxiway and the Runway
But at the beginning of RWY18 (where you turn around) there is a step and the elevation is correct
So when you turn around to line up RWY18 there is a bump

I have nothing else installed in Corse or the area around, I only have a global Mesh and UTE
There was no previous scenery of Calvi installed either
Could it be a reason that the photo Ground is in the same folder as the scenery?

2.) Blurry textures:
Some textures seem to have a very low quality, even blurry, especially the Terminal and some Taxiway markings. The others are ok

Maybe you have a solution for me
thanks
Greetings from Vienna

Stefan

Could it be a reason that the photo Ground is in the same folder as the scenery?

Hello and welcome Stefan

There is no known elevation problem on this scene
You are the first person who has this problem.

Image

-Check that the elevation settings are at the maximum
-Check in the scenery/world/scenery folder that there is no
Another file with the prefix or suffix LFKCxxx.bgl

For textures this is an FSX -> FS9 conversion
FS9 at a maximum resolution of 1024x1024
So you will not have HD

I tested with:

-Corse F-VFR
-Mesh SRTM 38 Meters

No problem

Hi,

I have elevation settings already on max and also checked for LFKC files in the scenery/world/scenery folder

I will try to reinstall but just to be save: are there files from your scenery in other folders or just those in the “LFKC - Calvi Sainte Catherine FSX3D”-Folder which you can choose at installation? So I don’t miss anything when I deinstall it…

As for the textures, I understand its FS9 and quality will not be like in FSX, but as I said most textures are “sharp enough” it’s just 2 or 3 of the textures that seem lower quality than the others (like the terminal and those TX-way markings)
I opened them with DXTBMP and found the reason (I think):
Almost the complete front of the Terminal building is as “one piece” in the texture (terminal1.bmp), not even using the whole width of the 1024 pixels, so its already very small within the texture-file and probably gets blurry in original size in the sim?!
Wouldn’t “splitting” the Terminal-front in sections with a texture for each section increase the quality?!
Similar situation with the route.bmp for the Taxiway, it’s a rather small area of the 1024 texture…

Sorry if it’s not correct, I haven’t built a scenery yet in FS, but that seemed obvious on first look…

Thanks for your help
Stefan

You are quite right !
There is too much surface in the Terminal.bmp texture

Divide the terminal would be a huge job
It would have to start again from the beginning :(

I'm sorry that annoys you

Yes there is only the folder in "Addon scenery"
And the "== FSX3D PDF INFOS ==" folder at the root.

I wait for the results of your tests...

Regards,

PS:I do my tests on 3 PCs
There is no problem of elevation.

On your fourth screenshot we see that the plane is on the ground?

You must have the file "LFKC_ADEX_FSX_ALT.BGL" in scenery/world/scenery

I think I found a solution:

the file LFKC_ADEX_FSX_ALT.BGL wasnt in the scenery/world/scenery folder

During install I changed the path, I wanted the scenery to be inside of my Addon Scenry folder.
So now i have a scenery/world/scenery folder within my Addon Scenry folder (with that file inside).

Seems the installer lets you change the location where you want to put the scenery but keeps a relative path to this LFKC_ADEX_FSX_ALT.BGL
As a result this file will end up in the wrong location in case you choose some other location than the FS root folder for this scenery

I will test in the evening an let you know

As for the textures, I expected that this was the case
So your next Airport will have divided Terminal parts for P3D than the conversion to older FS versions will also have sharp textures :)

OK!
I will change the installer as I did on my stage of Le Castellet
To detect FS9 by the registry.

You will be infomed by SimMarket.

I think it will work now for elevation

Good flight and thank you to you.

Best regards

Yes it is a stupidity that I no longer do,

Just wanted to confirm it works now:
I copied LFKC_ADEX_FSX_ALT.BGL from the current location in the scenery/world/scenery folder -> Elevation issue gone...

Thanks again for your help

Stefan
